The media can either break or make one's career. In Michael Jackson's case, the media has done both to him. When life started to turn bad for MJ, the media scrutinized him and called him names. The media played a big part in his fall from grace. Whether or not it was true that he was a child molester, the media fueled the public with their own judgment that MJ was guilty of the crime. He was acquitted with the charges and settled out of court. The media said he got away from it because of his celebrity status.
The irony is that the media is all over him now that he's gone. They all have good words about the person they destroyed, not only his career but his personal life as well. As an artist, nobody can say a single bad word against MJ. He was a total performer. However, when it comes to his personal life, people have formed different opinions based on how he conducted himself publicly. The media took advantage of his eccentric behavior. But how was MJ when he's not before the prying eyes of the media? How was he as a father, brother, and friend? I believe that a person has always a good side.
The world mourns for MJ and he deserves it. I hope people will remember him in a positive way and learn from his shortcomings.
