I kissed New York goodbye

I've been to different cities, big and small, but my recent trip to NY was an entirely different experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't a positive one. I'll never make another trip there to save my soul. Roads are congested. Parking is tough. I didn't see a single handicap parking where I went and almost all parking spaces are for commercial vehicles. And pedestrians are unbelievable... they overtake the cars! They're not afraid to cross the streets even with an oncoming vehicle.

A fellow Filipino I met at the Philippine Embassy told me that he'd rather drive in Manila than in New York City. I don't blame him. I was only in NY for three hours and I couldn't wait to leave.

I really love New York City and I would never , never want to leave if only the choice involves living with my husband. But good thing, I'm only 1 hr. away from the "world's greatest city" .....I live there for 3 1/2 years and I fell in love with it. The diversity, the pulse, the glitz, the languages, the history, the glamour, the heart, even its flaws, I love it. I only love 3 cities in the world--New York, Tokyo and Davao.

If you had stayed a little bit longer than an hour and keep a "fresh" perspective towards a new city, I think you might see this city in a different way. It takes "excitement , passion and vibrance" to know why this world's greatest city captures a lot of hearts.

I'm gonna have to recommend Toronto :) A lot of TV/Movie New York is shot here, but I think it's more relaxed.

I would never drive in New York City. The roads are crazy. I've only ever experienced New York as a pedestrian. If you do give the city a second chance, definitely try it out by foot. You'll get a completely different perspective.

New York is one of those love-it-or-hate-it cities. Personally I love it, but you have to be willing to move to its fast-paced rhythm, understand that people don't have time to be anything but blunt and honest (and be able to appreciate that), and make sure you memorize the subway system! These steps are not easy for many people, I will admit. But like Bingkee said, you need to give it more than a few hours to really make a love it/ hate it decision.

Really??! I LOVE it! But then again, I come from Chicago where the taxis speed up when pedestrians cross in front of them. :) You are either a city person or not. I guess I am.

Thank You, again! Ad looks Great! You-Da-Bomb

I hate traffic. But, at least in NY, ya don't NEED a car.

Peace.

I liked being there for one day. We walked everywhere though. Didn't even bother getting a taxi. :) Just walked. Didn't see all that much, but enjoyed ourselves. I don't have much desire to go back.
