There are things that I leave to the experts especially when it has something to do with electricity. I don't even know what cable trays are. I only know how to change the light bulbs. But even that makes me scared. What if something goes wrong and it will blow off on me? But I think it's ridiculous to call an electrician just to change my light bulb so I had to learn that.

I have a friend who is a licensed electrician and once in a while I'd ask for his help if I need some electrical work done at home. So far he hasn't complained yet that I call him even for nonsense electrical concerns. Well, I just don't want things in my house to start exploding like fireworks on the fourth of July.

Who is rich or poor among countries: Does it really matter?

I don't understand the relevance of determining who is rich or poor among countries just so curbing man-made gas emissions can be started. Why can't just countries unite and start moving as changes in climate have already caused catastrophic damages. There are just too many disputes going on while the problem is getting worse by the minute. America has spent billions of money in the war so why can't it do the same to solve climate change?

China claims that the US releases most of the heat-trapping gases. Fine. But this was in the 1950's. Times have changed and now China's share of global emissions exceeds 25 percent, while the U.S. share has fallen toward 20 percent. But still China argues that the US is unwilling to live up to their obligations to cut carbon emissions.

China is the world's second largest economy but is still considered a developing country under UN classification. This means that developed countries are obliged to give them money in their fight against climate change. Isn't China lucky?

Prayers for missing children

Today is National Missing Children's Day. I read an article online stating that 600,0000 - 800,000 children go missing each year. A 1993 Washington project found out from 600 murders studied that 76% had been killed within three hours of abduction. This is really a disgusting fact, I had goosebumps while reading the whole article. How could there be evil-minded people in the world?

Families who have missing children hope every day in their hearts that their child will come home safe. They never give up hope. Locally, a 2 1/2 year old girl went missing in Rockport, Massachusetts. There are varying versions of her disappearance - that she was swept to the sea (where she was playing with her sister, mother, and the family dog), abducted, or a victim of a foul play. My hope is that she is safe and will come home soon.

I've never used tanning sprays simply because my skin tone already looks like that of someone who spent the whole day under the sun. I can't imagine how would I look if I spray myself to get a tan - I'd probably look like the woman who got herself hooked into tanning. My officemate goes to a tanning salon to get the summer glow on her skin. I'm not sure how much it costs her but I think using tanning sprays is cheaper.

Whatever you use to get a too-good-to-be-true golden glow always remember to use it with caution. Read the labels and follow the instructions so as not to create damage to your skin.

Appreciation for welders

I have so much respect for welders because if not for them we will be flying in broken planes, sailing in a ship with holes or driving cars with unsightly dents. And because of them we have beautiful bridges all over America. I learned that here in the US in order for someone to become a welder he has to attend a vocational school and undergo some training and pass a certification exam. I know that welders use different tools and one of them is the Miller millermatic which I found out is the most trusted in the welding field.

I remember having to go with my father to a welding shop and I saw different flickers of lights. And the shop was noisy too. I was young then so I didn't really understand the relevance of a welder's job to our lives and the community. But I have so much appreciation now for the kind of work that they do.

A sunroom in my own place

I love natural light. As a matter of fact when I look online for houses the first thing I check is how much light it gets from the sun. Or if the house has a sunroom. I just love the warmth that comes from the sun especially on cold days. I think it will also save me some money from using the heater. I know that some people use the sunroom as their storage area and I think it's a shame that they do it. It's suppose to be a special place in the house where the family can gather together and relax. When I have picked my own place I will definitely have a sunroom where I can spend my free time and maybe have some friends come over for coffee.

Senior housing in Massachusetts

I just read an article about a senior housing in Waltham, MA that has 19 affordable housing for seniors. I also saw the pictures and everything looks new like the bathrooms and kitchens. The waiting list has 50 people trying to secure a unit. Occupancy will be determined through a lottery. This senior housing used to be a school which was owned by Bentley University. According to the article the city spent close to $1.4 million on redeveloping the said senior housing. As of present the units are still unoccupied because of a zoning problem and concerned city officials are working on resolving this matter.

It's true that no one can predict the future. But when I reach 55+ I think I'd want to stay at home because it's a familiar place for me. However I'm also open to the possibility that my needs might change and staying at home is not the best option for me.

Starting our prom dress search

I remember when I was in high school it was always so tense to see who would get asked to the prom by whom. It was like keeping up tabs on March Madness or something! Well, I think that there's a lot less pressure on high school kids these days about that and it seems like a lot of them just end up going with friends to the prom anyway. But I think my daughter was still a little more excited when she got a boyfriend a few months ago because she knew that she wouldn't have to worry about getting a prom date. Ever since then it's strictly been prom on the brain.

When I was planning which stores we should go and shop at to find the perfect dress, I saw the website debtcounseling.bankrupt.com and after I looked through it a little bit I decided to check it out for my husband and I. That's part of the reason I'm so concerned about staying on budget when we're shopping.

She's worried about finding a pretty plus size prom dress but if all the stuff I've found by searching online is any indication, finding the perfect one for her isn't going to be a problem!

I don't own a hot tub but it would be nice to have one someday. It will be so relaxing to just dip right in the water after a long day at work. A friend of mine owns one and she told me that it can be quite expensive to maintain a hot tub but since she doesn't drink to relax or do any other nerve-relaxing activities she doesn't mind spending on a really good hot tub cover. Learning to play the guitar

If there's one musical instrument I want to learn how to play it's the guitar. I think it's a very convenient piece that you can bring with you wherever you go like at the park or the beach. Well, I'm sure there are many other places where you can tag along the guitar with you. If only I know how to strum the guitar I'm sure I'm singing some Adele tunes right now. I saw the Adele 21 album at Hal Leonard online. I'm not really sure if I still have the time to enroll myself in a guitar lesson but I'm definitely encouraging my son to know how to play the guitar.

Launching a new business

I still have to launch the website and FB page for my new business and I'm really excited about it. I'm just thankful that this business didn't require me to get unsecured business loans because I didn't want to start my new endeavor with something to pay back. I also know that lenders put higher interest rates on unsecured loans and it's something that turns me off in the first place. However, if you're looking for money to start your own business and getting an unsecured loan is your last option then do it but make sure you pay it off soon so you won't drown in the interest.

Personally, I don't see unsecured loan as an option simply because I know I will be paying double (or even triple) of what I originally owe. It's the reason why I chose a business that requires minimal capital.

I used my wireless internet Fort Worth connection to get on-line and create an account with our local dry cleaner. Our dry cleaning bill had gotten so expensive, I decided that we had to do something about it! I researched all of the dry cleaners in the area and read reviews about them. I didn’t know that the dry cleaner that we use offers a fifteen percent discount if you create an account with them on-line and manage your bill and payment on-line. Usually, they pick up the dry cleaning, drop it off, and I send a check for the bill. I set up a payment plan where I could send electronic funds from my checking account straight to theirs at the end of the month when they e-mail me the statement. It is just like writing a check, but there is no paper check involved. I have to say that it is much easier than actually writing a check, but I wish that I had known that they were offering this deal sooner. Fifteen percent of our monthly dry cleaning bill is a lot of money!

If the sandals fit

I'm sure some women got womens sandals for gifts on Christmas. I would love to give someone a pair of sandals but sizes are tricky. Different brands have different measurements. So I'd rather give gift cards so they can get the sandals themselves.

There are lots of brands of sandals today and they're all beautiful. It makes picking a pair really difficult especially if you're presented with many choices. I'd say get the one that has the right fit - something that makes your feet comfortable.

I'm not really a sandal type of person. I go for sneakers and shoes with heels especially that I need a little boost in my height with my short frame. Fortunately no one has given me a pair of sandals because I will end up returning it and replace it with sneakers.

Holiday shopping

I didn't do any shopping this holiday. The closest to shopping that I did probably was my trip to the local grocery store to get some baking stuff. With the throng of people I see on the news shopping I can imagine chaos if store don't use barcode scanners. I don't know how stores managed before the barcode scanner was invented. It was probably slow since cashiers had to enter the prices manually.

But anyways I heard on the news that there weren't too many great deals this year. But lo and behold that didn't dampen the shopping spirit of many people. They still went shopping for their family and friends.
